Plan backward from the show

Confirm entry rules, size limits, transport requirements and setup times first. Work out the tree’s expected seasonal state and prepare its pot, stand and any companion element in advance. Do not schedule major root work, hard pruning or risky styling just before an event.

Clean without disguising

Remove weeds, debris and dead material; clean the container and stand with methods safe for their materials. Moss should be appropriate to the tree and display, not used to hide root problems or a poor surface. Avoid cosmetic oil or products that can damage bark or leaves.

Compose the viewing experience

Set the front, height and direction so the trunk line and canopy are readable. Use adequate negative space; accessory plants and scrolls should support the scene. Check lighting from the viewer’s angle and avoid arranging the tree where it will overheat or dry during the exhibition.

Transport and recovery

Secure the pot against movement, protect branches and plan for temperature and water during travel. After the show, return the tree to suitable growing conditions and inspect for broken shoots, dehydration or pests. A display is a short event in a long cultivation cycle.
