Look beyond the superlative

Calling a tree a masterpiece is an editorial judgment. A useful gallery explains why: trunk movement, root flare, branch architecture, age, species, or the history of its care. Without captions and credits, viewers cannot distinguish documented facts from promotional language.

What each image record should contain

For every photograph, record the source, creator, date, collection or owner, species when confirmed, and any known restrictions. Include descriptive alt text that reports visible features instead of guessing age or provenance. If images are reused, retain their original context and credit.

A learning gallery

Once images are cleared, organize examples around design questions: how taper is built, how negative space works, how a forest group creates depth, and how seasonal display changes the silhouette. Compare distinct approaches rather than presenting one style as the ideal.

Current restoration status

The historic page title has been preserved. Image attribution, licensing and the identities of the displayed trees require verification; this draft does not substitute unverified images.

This page is reconstructed from historical BlogBonsai material. Horticultural details should be interpreted for the species, season, climate and condition of the individual tree.
